Description
The TrackStar Leather jacket is the crown jewel of the McLaren F1 X Alpinestars RSRV
collaboration. It is the coalescence of Alpinestars protective heritage, McLaren’s racing
legacy, and the abundance of style and beauty derived from Formula 1 racing. On the
surface, the TrackStar is a McLaren race suit, reinterpreted as a leather jacket, but beneath
that, it is a symbol of the attention to detail and pursuit of perfection required at the highest
levels of racing. The majority of the jacket is constructed of deadstock leather from
Alpinestars MotoGP motorcycle race suit program. The sleeves of the jacket also incorporate
fire-retardant Aramid fabric, the same fabric used in the McLaren drivers’ race suits. The F1
inspiration is extended into the shoulders of the jacket, which feature pronounced,
overhanging epaulets reflective of the shoulders of a race suit. The body of the jacket is
based on the Alpinestars Hero jacket of the late 90s, which featured a large collar and boxy,
cut. The jacket somehow alludes to the styling of automotive race suits, classic leather
motorcycle jackets, and McLaren F1 in a seamless, comprehensive presentation of speed,
style, and performance.
