How do I choose the right size insert for a J09-compatible garment?

Match the insert to your garment size and pocket type (back, chest, shoulder, elbow). The correct protector should fill the pocket without folding or gapping; for back inserts, coverage should extend from between the shoulder blades toward the lumbar area without restricting movement.

If between sizes, prioritize a flat, stable fit inside the pocket over maximum length. Use the size chart on the protector’s product page and your garment’s inner label for final confirmation.

Should I remove protectors before washing, and how do I care for the gear?

Yes. Remove all armor and any electronics before cleaning. For textiles, close zips and Velcro, machine wash cold on gentle only if permitted by the care label, then air dry away from heat. Leather should be spot-cleaned and conditioned; do not machine wash or tumble dry leather.

Clean protectors separately with a damp cloth and mild soap, then let them dry flat before reinserting. Proper care helps maintain impact performance and consistent pocket fit.
